OpenXTalk Current Download links
Hi there.
Can we have links for the end-user application binaries for the current state of OpenXTalk.
If they can be downloadable from the "releases" in the github repository - even if they are beta form.
Please can we have links for Linux, MacOS and Windows - we can then link to these downloads in this forum post.
If needed, we can make it clear that these are alpha / beta versions and 'use at your own risk' kind-of-situation.
Many thanks.

Re: OpenXTalk Current Download links
Here are current download links for both Linux and MacOS X versions of OpenXTalk 0.9 Lite, so you don't need to swap any files around manually:
Mac: https://www.tsites.co.uk/sites/openxtal ... 0.9-osx.7z
Linux: https://www.tsites.co.uk/sites/openxtal ... 9-linux.7z
Known issues: Please be aware that on Linux, this will overwrite any existing Livecode install you have in /opt
On the mac version, it still can't handle .oxtstack files and is still associated with the .livecode extension.
Also, on the mac version: there seems to be no way to turn off the autoupdater, so either delete or zip the file in /Applications/OpenXTalk Lite 0.9.app/Contents/MacOS/autoupdater

Fantastic.
Unfortunately my 'day job' has started this week so I will have less time for testing. But will do what I can.

Likewise. It's that time of year again for me too, so my progress with the 'lite' version will slow down. It's a good learning experience for me, and the point is perhaps some of my changes can be carried through to OXT RC4 and beyond. (As I'm documenting it all to give to Paul eventually).

Re: OpenXTalk Current Download links
For anyone following along with the changes, or looking to make their own edits, I've also included a changes folder (like my own mini-github, to track changes... without the complexity).
https://www.tsites.co.uk/sites/openxtalk/oxt-changes.7z
I kind of made my own mini-github, so you can pick & choose what you want from the list of changes:

Re: OpenXTalk Current Download links
Updated the Mac and Linux builds of OpenXTalk Lite 0.9
Using the 9.6.1 Community as a base, links are as before:
Mac: https://www.tsites.co.uk//sites/openxta ... 0.9-osx.7z
Linux: https://www.tsites.co.uk//sites/openxta ... 9-linux.7z
Fixed the updater appearing on the mac. Please consider this a work in progress.
The reason for using 9.6.1 as a base, and not 9.6.3 is that the older version keeps the ability to deploy to 32-bit Mac OS.

Wow: 371 MB is a LOT of mods.
Aha: you are crafty getting 1.7 GB into 371 MB!
OK: just going downstairs to grab a big mug of coffee.
OK, OK; Let's start with the bitchy questions:
Where did THIS dump anything [cannot find anything]?

Now trying to run this:

BUT:

MacOS 12.6.9

Re: OpenXTalk Current Download links
Okay, I'll brace myself...
Hopefully in your Applications folder (/Applications)
That *might* be because you are either:
* Running it from the DMG? - which it probably doesn't like
* I've not tested in Mac OS 12... so, maybe it's that...
I'm wondering if it's trying to run in 32-bit mode? Don't know why it would be as thought it was supposed to be 64-bit.
https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT208436
Quote "Apple has been working with developers to transition their apps and in 2018 Apple informed them that macOS Mojave would be the last version of macOS to run 32-bit apps. Starting with macOS Catalina, 32-bit apps are no longer compatible with macOS."
Catalina was, as you know, better known as Mac OS 10.15. Whereas MacOS 12 is two years newer. Perhaps it's just plain incompatible and 10.15 is the limit you can run 9.6.1 on? - not sure, more testing required

Unfortunately it did not, and didn't appear to dump anything anywhere else.Hopefully in your Applications folder (/Applications)
I ran your APP from the folder as per my screenshot.
Perhaps I should manually move it into the Applications folder:
-
No, I am afraid that also pops up the 'damaged' notice after jumping around in the Dock for ages.

I'll try on another computer.... I'm sure I have something that might run a slightly newer Mac OS around here somewhere...

Re: OpenXTalk Current Download links
I got a lot of those 'damaged' notices with my 'rmCODE' for no OBVIOUS reason.

That is strange.richmond62 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 6:29 pm I got a lot of those 'damaged' notices with my 'rmCODE' for no OBVIOUS reason.![]()
So, when you ran the installer (which just runs a shell command to make the blank 'license' folders, so that the registration window doesn't appear), then the installer is supposed to copy the app from .installdata to /Applications.
So, nothing too fancy. You'd imagine so, unless I've broken some kind of unwritten Apple rule that I'm unaware of

I don't have a real Catalina mac, but I do have a VM (which is why you'll see my graphics memory is incorrectly reported as 3MB! in this screenshot), but upon double-clicking the installer on the DMG, it asks for my admin password (for permissions to copy into /Applications), then gives me a progress bar (I should really put a "success, installed" or something like that here.
Anyway, I can then eject the dmg and open OpenXTalk Lite 0.9 from the Applications folder: I was kind of hoping it wouldn't work, as I'd like to know what is going on with it.
I have a nasty feeling that it's OS-related. Do you have another Mac you can try this on?
Alternatively, I can try this on another at work on Monday, but that's only running 10.15. I wonder if we can test on another mac running a system higher than 10.15 to confirm my suspicion that LC 9.6.1 isn't 'fully' 64-bit as LC claim.
Meanwhile, I'm just going to test again on my relic 10.9 Mavericks mac, just to make sure it's not something weird with the installer.

Working in 10.9 Mavericks too:
Can someone reading this try it in Mac OS 11 "Big Sur" please.

Re: OpenXTalk Current Download links
Just thinking about this some more, with those other 'damaged' application notices, this could be to do with MacOS metadata information.
Source
https://appletoolbox.com/app-is-damaged ... pened-mac/
Please try running:
xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/OpenXTalk Lite 0.9.app"
Or, as they suggest, as a last resort - clear all metadata completely for the app using:
xattr -cr "/Applications/OpenXTalk Lite 0.9.app"
Edit: the installer now does this. Please try downloading again.

Re: OpenXTalk Current Download links
To anyone following this, please try downloading the mac version of OpenXTalk Lite again. (now at v0.91).
I've changed some things with the installer, and updated with all TerryL's changes. (hopefully works on MacOS 11, 12 etc)
Linux version 0.91, based on LC 9.6.1, has also been updated.
Links are as before.

Re: OpenXTalk Current Download links
Here I am after a productive day: made a wooden table lamp, sliced up 10 kg tomatoes for the veg drier, picked about 15 kg figs and now wondering what to do with them . . .
So; now to OXT: currently redownloading the Mac version as per instructions.
- -
I am downloading with BRAVE . . .
HOWEVER, Brave is NOT decompressing the file, that is being done by 'Archive Utility'.
Why does the DMG file come to 2.6 GB?
- -
Yet, when I copy the DMG opened to my folder it comes to considerably less:
- -
The mounted DMG reports as having 868 MB free space.

Re: OpenXTalk Current Download links
Well, this, at least, is already an advance on yesterday:
- -
The thing works very quickly indeed, and does NOT dump OXT in the Applications folder.
Attempting to launch the App from inside the .installdata folder:
- -
All too familiar I am afraid.

Re: OpenXTalk Current Download links
Please do not attempt to launch the app from a dmg. Bad idea.
Don't understand why your mac can't copy to /Applications
Please try dragging the app manually from .installdata to /Applications/
(you'll notice it's now at 0.91, and called "OpenXTalk Lite 0.91.app")
So now, please run:
xattr -cr "/Applications/OpenXTalk Lite 0.91.app"
Then restart your mac for good measure, and then try again please.

Re: OpenXTalk Current Download links
I haven't, and I won't.Please do not attempt to launch the app from a dmg.
What I HAVE done is, pressing the ALT/KEY dragged the mounted disk image to a folder so its complete contents are copied there (I did this yesterday), and then attempted to start the Appl from the .installdata folder inside that folder, and, as yesterday, copied the App across to the Applications folder where I get the 'damaged' notice again.
