Wheelchair Heroes

Post by richmond62 »

Currently working on an interface for either OXT or "that other thing" to allow
the IDE to be used for programming by people with severe physical disabilities.

I should be grateful for some pointers to interface icons such as those in the Tools stack that are FREE.

Initially the interface should start up in a minimal state with 2 buttons which can be selected using either the LEFT and RIGHT ARROW keys
or the LEFT and RIGHT movements of a JOYSTICK:

Once one of these 2 choices has been selected . . .

If NEW STACK is selected . . .

OBVIOUSLY, at that stage, a fuller Toolbar offering objects for placement on the stack should become visible:

This type of automated interface was discussed in a master's degree thesis I wrote about 20 years ago!

Ideally the interface should be FULLY usable by a mouth-based control:

"The Quadstick FPS has a joystick, four sip/puff pressure sensors and a Lip position sensor which can be assigned to output to any game controller button or axis, or to any mouse movement, button or keyboard key. The mapping between the inputs and outputs can be customized by the user and changed quickly while playing a game."

Or a joystick:

Although that's a hell of a screw for a joystick . . .

Especially if you look at this:

One would hate to think that someone was taking advantage of disabled people . . .

I am aiming for my system to be 100% functional on the basis of the SHIFT, ENTER and ARROW keys only
as these can be equated with Joystick movements and buttons without any difficulty:
