Go with the flow

Post by richmond62 »

The other day I was drawing, for probably the 20th time, the flow chart of my silly story about Granny sending me out to get potatoes:

Um: couldn't find that picture; so this one will have to suffice.

When a "little voice inside my head" said quite clearly and distinctly, "Macro Media Authorware":

I wonder if this sort of flow-chart thing would be useful and possible inwith OXT?

With good graphics primitives and a rich scripting language, why wouldn't it be?

I've made specialized flowchart apps in SuperCard and LC. It's a bit of work, but as doable as anything else.

These days I do flowcharting in Draw.io and other dedicated apps. But if you're making something that needs an integrated drawing environment, LC/OXT's drawing tools make it more than possible.

Absolutely you could even build it so it uses scaleable vector graphics so it could be printed out poster size without getting the upscaling jaggies!

I am afraid that you have missed the point of my posting: admittedly I should, may be, have been more explicit.

I belive Authorware contained with in itself the ability to construct flowcharts which would then be 'automagically' converted into 'programs', and the other way round.

As it is just about 29 years since I fiddled with Authorware: this afternoon I will install it on my G3 iMac that is dedicated to MacOS 9 (meaning that it does NOT run 10.3 or 10.4 with 'Classic', but JUST MacOS 9) and see whether:

1. I have been writing rubbish.

2. The role of the flowchart 'thing' inside Authorware.
