Re: Comments on 0.96
OK, OK: been in a bad case of "busy elsewhere" for about a week: but currently downloading 0.96 with what I see is an impressively long changes list.
Wow: opened on MacOS 12 Monterey: no fiddles, no diddles, lovely.

Re: Comments on 0.96
I am not entirely convinced by that:Adjusted the grab handle in the revMenubar to look more like a grab handle.
- -
AND, just to be a real thorn in the flesh: grab bars look different on different platforms.
AND, I don't think I have EVER seen a vertical grab handle/bar on a Mac app.
But, I would expect it to look a bit like this on MacOS:
- -
I would also expect BOTH ends of the Menu bar to be rounded.

Ideally both the grab handle/bar and its preview should look different on different platforms:Added a visual preview of the grab handle in preferences > appearance

Re: Comments on 0.96
Well, funny you should say that:
https://www.openxtalk.org/forum/viewtop ... 4694#p4694
Back here, I did muse about adding it in this way (like the horizontal grab bar used by InDesign), - this is a system control, (part of MacOS 10.6 standard resources), but I take your point that it might not 'meld' with other OS's necessarily.
That's not too much of a problem though. It could easily be made to adapt to a different image depending on OS.

I wonder, is this rounding of Windows a Sonoma thing?richmond62 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 2:33 pm I would also expect BOTH ends of the Menu bar to be rounded.
I'm still on 10.15 Catalina (and my MacBook Air refuses to go any higher) - yes, I did force Sonoma onto it, but it really didn't like it, so I went back to Catalina. Aside from not being at all impressed with the way Mac iOS is going, I assume the rounded windows are something enforced by the OS.
It's not something I'm seeing here, so I absolutely forgot about the rounded effect. If that's the case, I'd expect the window to be rounded at both ends too - that should be an OS-defined setting?
Just out of curiosity, when you make a new stack, do your window corners have a huge radius too?

I don't know: windows are all rounded hereabouts: MacOS 12, Monterey.I wonder, is this rounding of Windows a Sonoma thing?
I think 'huge' is over-doing things a bit.Just out of curiosity, when you make a new stack, do your window corners have a huge radius too?

"Over there" the Menu bar has square ends:
- -
But, as soon as it 'acquires' a grab bar, it becomes rounded:
- -
So, I do feel, even if your grab handles will be at the ends of the Menu bar, rather than at the top, rounded ends might be . . .

OK:Fixed a bug where the truncated toolbar did not stay truncated if the user toggled 'toolbar icons' / 'toolbar text'

No "funny" resizing there.

OK:Replaced the LC icon in the Answer and Ask dialogs. Now shows the OXT icon in the dialog if an ask / answer command is run.

Hard to fault.

OK:Added feature (credit to Richmond). You can now have custom alert icons in the Ask and Answer dialogs. You just need to have an image called 'appicon.png" in card 1 of your stack.
- - -
That is wonderful.

OK:Added an option in Preferences > Extras to close unnecessary stacks, after the IDE starts

Restarted OXT Lite, could not see anything that might resemble layout guides.

OK:Modified the inspector so that the chances of getting many, many inspectors is greatly lessened.
Slightly odd behaviour: opened up my Devawriter stack and clicked on Card Inspector in the menu bar, and then a right-click on a button: for a split second I saw 2 props palettes, then the button one "took over" the card one: slightly disconcerting.

That works (although it does not really excite me).You can now toggle the revMenubar drag handle on or off without restarting the IDE

Re: Comments on 0.96
Not entirely sure if I understand the point of this, as xTALK [err: the people "over there"] keeps mixing up 'coding' and 'scripting'.Renamed the toolbar button "Code" to "Script" (it's called Script / Scripting everywhere else).

Don't run yourself down: it does look different, and, a bit like what Parmenides said, it does look like its in a state of becoming:The dictionary now looks slightly worse than it did, but I'll revamp this in future. It's just to create a version that's a stack rather than a web object/widget (whatever).

Interesting.
The rounded corners are definitely much larger on Big Sur and upwards

OK:Implemented the additional shortcuts in Object menu (card inspector = ctrl J, card script = ctrl shift C, Stack script = ctrl shift S) - Credit to TerryL for this suggestion
- -
Lovely, but I'm like Oliver Twist - wanting more: can we have a short cut for #1 Object Inspector?

Layout guides are when you are repositioning buttons near fields etc, it'll draw guides on screen to help with the layout:richmond62 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 5:34 pm Restarted OXT Lite, could not see anything that might resemble layout guides.

Re: Comments on 0.96
Yes, this would previously have left 2 inspectors hanging around. It now realises this, but takes a moment to work out what's going on. I do plan to refine this further so that it absolutely can't generate two inspectors or more.richmond62 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 5:38 pm Slightly odd behaviour: opened up my Devawriter stack and clicked on Card Inspector in the menu bar, and then a right-click on a button: for a split second I saw 2 props palettes, then the button one "took over" the card one: slightly disconcerting.
It's partly because when inspectors are created, they first assume they are stack inspectors then switch over to the selection. So if you already have a selection, it then realises and hides the copy. It takes a while to realise though.
