Apart from the bits that make me want to cry:

"making it better for everybody."

This IS quite useful.

'Oddly enough' it does not seem to have been updated at all as there is no info
on compiling which is 'coming soon.'

whether that is "in front of" 9.6.3 at all is far from clear.

I doubt that, there may be a few changes that weren't included in 9.6.3, and I know there was pull requests for fixes from community members that were not rolled in, but I don't think there's a whole lot to get excited about there.

Certainly having Engine(s) source code is extremely useful or rather it can/will be.
