Is there anything legally or morally wrong [being well aware that 'legally' and 'morally' do not always coincide] with
distributing modded versions of LC Community?

The GPL FAQ section on Distribution provides good guidance to augment a reading LC's GPLv3 license:

In short, GPL is most well known for encouraging sharing.
